"I have a dream..."

When I say that I'm often behind of things, that's the understatement of the year. I only found out about Clay Aiken three freaking years after his stint on Idol. And I only find out about the newest singing sensation Susan Boyle like almost a month after everybody's talking about it. In my defense, I'm not the kind of person who keeps in touch with the latest news just for the sake of being up-to-date.

But wow...I'm so glad i procrastinated just now and decided to check out the famous video. What struck me is not just her incredible voice but also the song she sang. It was kinda ironic because she sang about dreams that will not come true (at least according to the author. Now I want to check out Les Miserables so bad!). In a way, Susan Boyle had been struggling to achieve her dream. She had recorded songs and appeared in public when she was younger, but Wikipedia didn't tell why she never got the recognition she so deserved. Now old and weathered, but still keeping the dream alive, she goes against all odds and appears in Britain's Got Talent, and silences the people who previously laughed at her. As I watched the video, I was again reminded that sometimes justice may prevail, that sometimes God takes pity on us. If only I can believe that in real life.

Here's the lyric to "I Dreamed a Dream"...thank God that Susan Boyle, 47, never gives up her dream and lives with regrets she thankfully will never know.

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving

Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dreams to shame

And still I dream he'd come to me
That we would live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from the hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed

And despite the fact that the whole world and their mother have seen this video, i just gotta have it in my blog.

The lyrics are so sad and what's sadder is that so many people can relate to them.

Her voice is amazing.
